Dental Services

Isle of Wight Family & Cosmetic Dentistry is dedicated to keeping your smile and oral health in pristine condition. At our Smithfield, VA office, we use the latest technology to provide a wide range of trusted general and cosmetic dental services. From routine teeth cleanings and preventative care to dental implants and teeth whitening, we can help you maintain a beautiful smile for years to come.

General Dentistry

Children & Adult Routine Care
No matter your age, professional teeth cleanings are vital for maintaining good oral health. We perform a thorough oral examination and then remove plaque and calculus buildup from the tooth surfaces to prevent tooth decay and gum disease.
Oral Cancer Screenings
Oral cancer can be fatal and often goes undetected until it has reached an advanced stage, which is why regular oral cancer screenings are important. Fast and painless, the screening is primarily a visual and tactile (touch) examination to identify small changes in the lining tissues of the mouth, lips, and tongue that may signify the early stages of this type of cancer.
Periodontal Treatment
Periodontal treatment focused on the health of the gums and the bone that supports teeth in order to prevent gum disease and potential tooth loss. This can involve many therapies, including scalings (deep cleanings) that remove plaque and calculus (tartar) from beneath the gum line.
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
We are one of the only dental offices in the area that offers nitrous oxide. A safe and effective treatment, nitrous oxide has a gentle, calming effect on patients to help them stay comfortable during a wide range of procedures.

Cosmetic & Restorative Treatments

Invisalign

Invisalign is the perfect way to straighten your teeth without using traditional braces. The clear and removable aligners will gradually shift the alignment of your teeth to a position that looks and feels great. Our office also offers 0% financing for Invisalign. Call us to learn more.

Teeth Whitening
For a bright and radiant smile, teeth whitening can make all the difference. We offer Zoom Whitening for in-office and at-home whitening options. We’ll work with you to determine the best treatment for your needs so you can start seeing results as soon as possible.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are the ideal tooth replacement option for long-lasting results. A dental implant is a small, screw-shaped titanium post that is surgically inserted to replace the root of a missing tooth. After a healing period, the implant is topped with a lifelike crown custom-made to match your existing natural teeth.
Veneers
If you’re looking to repair chipped or cracked teeth and create a beautiful, uniform smile, then veneers may be right for you. As a thin layer of porcelain that is bonded to your teeth, veneers can be used to improve the color, size, shape, alignment, and spacing of your teeth.
Dentures
If you’re experiencing full or partial tooth loss, dentures can help you to smile again. Full or partial dentures consist of a gum-colored base made of plastic resin, which fits over the remaining alveolar (bone) ridge that formerly held the teeth. The prosthetic teeth projecting from the base are designed to look and function just like your natural teeth.
Bonding
Bonding is a treatment that can help restore your teeth and smile to full beauty and function.
Bonding uses tooth-colored materials to replace missing tooth structures or hide cosmetically unappealing minor defects in a tooth, such as chips, discoloration, and minor spacing irregularities.
Crowns & Bridgework
Crowns and bridgework can strengthen damaged teeth, allowing them to function normally again. A dental crown is a covering that fits over a damaged, decayed, or unattractive tooth. It can even replace a tooth entirely as part of dental bridgework, which spans the space of the missing tooth and requires at least three crowns.
Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment becomes necessary when infection or inflammation develops in the pulp tissue of a tooth. To save the tooth and prevent further infection, the dead or dying tissue is removed, and the tooth canal is cleaned, disinfected, and filled with inert, biocompatible material.

Cutting-Edge Technology

Digital X-Rays
Digital X-rays are used to identify all external and internal anatomical structures in order to exam or diagnose any dental problems. Safer and more convenient than traditional X-rays, digital X-rays also use a much lower level of radiation.
CEREC Machine

Our office uses a state-of-the-art CEREC machine, an innovative intraoral scanner that offers same-day crowns. Click here to learn more.

3D Imaging
Using Galileos Comfort Plus, we can offer the latest in 3D imaging and CBCT for faster and more efficient diagnoses. Click here to learn more.
